Composer Workplace
Composer Workplace Workplace serves as the software infrastructure, or host, for all core system functionality including system monitoring and data management activities. Each process is implemented as workflows to aid users in managing and customizing the system. These processes include:

  • Reference Data Management: All data and metadata are managed using Workplace. Business users can upload and deploy the data model to make systematic changes to data definitions. Workplace also provides a common interface to create, modify and delete reference data records. Approval activities to control changes to the system or data are also incorporated into the workflows. Data maintenance workflows can be associated with data validation rules, which can be customized using the Rules Editor.
  • Report Generation: On-demand or scheduled for defined intervals. Users can define report layouts using the Report Designer.
  • Workflow Management: Workflows can be modified or added to Workplace. The definition of an existing or a new workflow can be edited by using the Workflow Editor.
  • Document Sharing: Workplace embraces a common infrastructure for document sharing within or between user groups in the organization. Documents are linked to the relevant data record(s) in the system.
  • User and Entitlement Management: Workplace provides a flexible roles-based security model that protects data integrity and privacy, to support efficient data management in a collaboration effort.
  • Workplace Desktop Customization: System administrators or other authorized users can customize the data and system management functionalities exposed to a particular user or user group.

Data Modeler
Graphical tool used for defining a data model, which is uploaded and deployed to the system through Workplace. The Data Modeler also supports the creation of data views and the customization of pick-lists.

Rules Editor
Allows business users to modify and create business rules.

Report Designer
Allows business users to modify existing report layouts and design new reports. Provides a “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) editor for designing report layouts with ease.

Workflow Editor
Graphical tool used for modifying existing workflow processes and defining new ones. Users can import existing workflow activities from the Workplace Activities Library to aid in creating new workflows. Roles can be assigned to define responsibility for workflow activities.

Data Processing Engine
The Data Processing Engine consists of a suite of components that automate acquisition, normalization, enrichment, storage and distribution of data. The database provides persistent data storage. Some of these key components are:

  • Feed Handlers: Collect, process and normalize data from data sources.
  • Data Handlers : Stores raw data from all external data sources as well as the resulting enriched and cleansed data processed through the system. The Data Handler can handle different data models from different data sources without the need for complicated database re-modeling or changes in the software. The Image Server is also configured with business rules for automated data validation and derived data calculation.
  • Data Distribution Gateway: Distributes the data in different protocols and structures as required by downstream applications and repositories. Includes full entitlements functionality, providing fine control over data distribution to applications, databases and/or users, even down to field level.

Administration Server
Provides graphical user interface for monitoring and control of the processes in the reference data system. It facilitates process monitoring, alerting messages, process control and audit logging.
